The WINDY CITY JAZZ ELECTRIC is a group of musicians merging together to form a new force in Modern Jazz. Each member has established themselves on the world stage as groundbreaking innovators and consummate professionals. They have worked with the finest Jazz musicians of this era. Bringing them together in one ensemble is an undertaking that opens the door to amazing, revolutionary music.
The excitement that is created onstage is palpable and profound. We would like to bring this project to stages worldwide and have WINDY CITY JAZZ ELECTRIC step into the forefront of Modern Jazz.
FRANK RUSSELL
Chicago native Frank Russell, Music Director and Bass, has performed and recorded with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Freddie Hubbard, Ramsey Lewis, Peter Erskine, Alphonse Mouzon and many others.
ROBERT IRVING III
Master Keyboardist Robert Irving III served as musical director for the Miles Davis Band and has played with or produced recordings with Ramsey Lewis, Carlos Santana, Wayne Shorter, Grover Washington Jr., and Branford Marsalis among many others.
PAUL WERTICO
Multi Grammy Award winning drummer Paul Wertico has played with the Pat Metheny Group, David Bowie, and Paul Winter among others. His is also an Associate Professor of Jazz Studies at Roosevelt University.
JOSE RENDON
Master Conguero Jose “Joe” Rendon has performed and recorded with Aretha Franklin, Paquito D’ Rivera, Arturo Sandoval and Mambo King Tito Puente to name a few.
STEVE EISEN
Steve Eisen, saxophone and flute, throughout his career has worked with such artists as C.J. Chenier, Roger Waters, Arturo Sandoval, Dr. John, Aretha Franklin, Nancy Wilson, Jimmy McGriff among others.
COREY WILKES
Corey Wilkes has established himself as one of the best improvising trumpeters in the modern era. Corey has played with numerous Jazz Masters including the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Roscoe Mitchell, Kahil El Zabar, Wynton Marsalis, and Von Freeman.
